We are proud to have helped bring the World Fair Trade Tartan Project to life, supporting its mission to celebrate fair and ethical trade around the world.

From fashion shows to Chinese New Year celebrations and food demos, our markets have always been a place for creativity, culture, and community to come together.

We’ve also brought markets into wider events, often free of charge, to support and promote fair and ethical trade. For example, the long-running market at the World Fair Trade Day Gig in the Usher Hall, has been a highlight for a number of years.
The latest World Fair Trade Tartan pieces have been lovingly woven in the mountains of Peru, using the softest baby alpaca wool by the skilled artisans at Allpa Peru, proud members of the World Fair Trade Organisation.
We were incredibly excited to receive the first World Fair Trade Tartan wraps and scarves just in time for the 18th International Fair Trade Towns Conference, held in Edinburgh from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 August 2025. The event was a fantastic success, and we were proud to showcase the collection there, as well as at one of our own Castle Street Markets. The response has been amazing - we’ve now almost sold out!
